5 MINUTES AWAY MIDNIGHT

Today, I read this article about setting the doomsday clock moved one minute closer to the zero hour.  What is this zero hour?  Zero hour means end of the world? Is this true? Who are they to make this scary conclusion?

Wikipedia says, “The Doomsday Clock is a symbolic clock face, maintained since 1947 by the board of directors of the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists at the University of Chicago. The closer the clock is to midnight, the closer the world is estimated to be to global disaster. The most recent officially announced setting — five minutes to midnight (11:55pm) — was made on 10 January 2012. Reflecting international events dangerous to humankind, the clock's hands have been adjusted twenty times since its inception in 1947, when the clock was initially set to seven minutes to midnight (11:53pm).”

Originally, the idea was to inform the public about the risks of nuclear and other weapons for mass destruction. Now, they are being recognized worldwide for giving information and analysis not only on nuclear weapons but also the dangers of global climate change. I guess, it’s our turn to make change...we don’t like another minute closer to midnight.

 God forbid.

Welcome to my blog!
Where I created a little place for me to write about something I am interested of.

By the way, I am Jessa Marie Eleazar, a freshman student taking up Bachelor of Science in Accountancy in Makati City. Well, being a teenager, I can’t deny the fact that we tend to be interested on a lot of things. Being curious about something because it might be new to us or because it is something that we really love.  As for me, I also enjoy certain things in life. I love music. I love food. I love to sleep (‘Coz I feel like I don’t always have a complete rest). And mostly, I love dogs.

However, I will not write about any of those I mentioned earlier. For this blog would be focusing on “DOOMSDAY” or is popularly known as "the end of the world".

Would the term "doomsday" is only about the end of the world?
Or could it be about something else?

To clear things up. I am a believer of God. I believe in everything He created. And I walk with His words as a guide in my life. But it just happened that I became so curious about this topic when I got to watch "Doomsday Preppers", a television show of National Geographic Channel. Whereas, the program features the preparation of American people (who are referred  as "preppers") in order for their family and friends to survive the adversity that might happen. They were like storing a lot of food that can keep them alive for years. Imagine a whole truck to be filled with food to eat just for one family. That would be a huge amount of supply right? And what interests me more is that, why are they so serious about it?

Well, aside of me posting blogs for the next weeks to come.
Basically, my blog would be my collection of facts and data as well as opinions or thoughts that will be my basis on writing a good research paper. Moreover, I hope that I could learn new things as well as I could share it through writing in this blog.

Thanks for visiting my little place. Until next blog!
